Bike MS: City to Shore Ride 2010 for my friend Michele Iacovitti Peraino. A set designer and artist, Michele and I had the pleasure of co-chairing together for the Komen Foundation this summer and I’m thrilled to be helping support her and the National MS Society. Proceeds of the event will help them reach out to more people in our area living with MS, as well as fund promising research into the cause, treatment and management of MS.

TIME
The Susan G. Komen For the Cure of Central and Southern NJ has honored Rosenfeld by asking her to be a Chairperson for the Expressions Tent at their annual Race for the Cure, walk/run in October 2011. Rosenfeld is in charge of organizing and executing a 20×40 tent filled with volunteer artists who will help the guests paint on canvases. They will paint their emotions about cancer or just paint to be a part of something bigger. The canvases will be attached into a larger painting that will be donated to museums and state building throughout the year to honor cancer survivors and honor the women who didn’t win their battle.
Rosenfeld was also a co-chair for their first annual Babes Burnin’ Rubber Event in July 2010. She will be involved in every aspect of the event, including sponsorship, press and especially finding vendors for the Marketplace.
When the call came from Komen, I was ecstatic. Up until then I was primarily donating jewelry to different charities and designing exclusive pieces for the Komen Foundation to sell. I was itching to be involved in a more personal level. When my business vision shifted to creating healing art jewelry it was not only to adorn and assist others overcome physical and emotional obstacles but also to help heal myself, Rosenfeld explained.
Plus, this artist has an even more personal inspiration, as well.
My Mother is a two-time breast cancer survivor and because I was either too young or already moved out, I couldn’t do as much for her as I would have liked. The ability to use my experiences for this worthy cause through such an interesting event is uplifting and very exciting to me.
Since 2007 she has partnered with more than 12 non-profits, large and small, to help each reach specific goals. Rosenfeld says she takes great pleasure in being able to give back, month after month and year after year.
ART JEWELRY
A very special jewelry donation went to Enchanted Makeovers in November. Since 2007, Enchanted Makeovers has been committed to transforming shelters for women and children into peace and possibilities. They recently hosted “The Journey… Discovering Our Inner Treasures”, in Jersey City, NJ. I was honored to be able to donate a necklace that a young lady, named Tiffany, won. My liaison for the event wrote: Tiffany said, “I feel like this necklace was meant for me. Winning it is like a new beginning, a fresh start.” She also spoke about the power of blocking negativity- she has experienced a lot of negative energy and people. And by the way, the dress she picked earlier that day matched the necklace perfectly (there are no coincidences), so she put it on at dinner when she won it! I donated a spectacular Amethyst slab kinetic necklace to Eddie’s House in Philadelphia during their November fund raiser. Eddie’s House opens doors for former foster kids who are willing to make the changes needed to break down barriers, achieve independence and personal success. They had a black-tie affair with extremely influential attendees and raised mega bucks for this worthy cause. My necklace was a stand-out as a gallery piece and received praise and attention.
Pearls and gemstones in more of a traditional setting were donated to the The Susan G. Komen For the Cure of Central and Southern NJ to help raise money during their Spirit of Jane Rodney Celebration, Friday, June 18th at Rider University.
A healing necklace of Amazonite, blue quartz, Smokey quartz and brass was completed to assist the The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN)for their walk and cocktail party in September of 2010. They raised over $300,000 in 2008 and 2009. Founded in 1991, FAAN is the world leader in information about food allergy, a potentially fatal condition that afflicts approximately 12 million Americans, or one out of every 25, and is rapidly increasing in prevalence. FAAN’s membership comprises individuals; families; health care professionals; school, child care, and camp staff; corporations; organizations; institutions; and those in the pharmaceutical and food industries – all working together.
